    Frequently asked questions

Here you will find the answers to the 'standard' question. It has no use to mail me about this because the answers should be clear. Because I receive a lot of emails I cannot answer them all.

    Do you sell your models?
No, because I can hardly find the pieces necessary. B.t.w., it would be too expensive for those who would like to buy one and it took me year to collect all the pieces.

    Do you have building instructions?
No, I don't have them. I desgined and built everything myself. I think people should do that as well. Self experience is more fun than copy it from others. So it is no sense to ask me for it. And I don't sent pictures by email.

Where do you get all those LEGO-pieces?
I am born in the right period. Former (late '70s, early '80s) there were very many interesting sets and I mostimes asked for LEGOs for my birthdays. Since I was 15 years old I bought bulk bricks at LEGO. In the early '90s you could order every brick you wanted in the Netherlands. I used this service for many years until LEGO went into big losses and stopped with this service. Nowadays you can buy bulk packages on Shop at Home on the LEGO-site. I used it for a few times. Mid '90s I started to buy second hand LEGOs via advertisements in the local newspapers. Sometimes I saw overdated sets in small shops, but nowadays these shops are getting more scarce every day. Via the internet I bought some wheels, but that was all.
Some times later I discovered Bricklink. Via this site you can buy LEGO parts and sets from individual persons. Many hunderd thousands of pieces are for sale here! The prices depends on the seller, but via this way you can get the parts missing.

How did you get so many wheels?
The first Technic sets regularly had wheels size 24 x 43 and 20 x 30. For me these are the base for a new model. They stopped producing these wheels in 1995, so it's very difficult to find some. Former I ordered some at LEGO, but I didn't had enough of them. Thanks to several second hand buys I now have a lot of those wheels (no, they're not for sale!!).
You can find them on Bricklink but the prices are rather high (sometimes double the normal price!). The same concerns the Technic link treads which are not produced anymore as well. Click on one of the links below to see if these parts are available somewhere:

    Extra Large hubs, size 24 x 43

    Extra Large tyres, size 24 x 43 (81 mm)

    Large hubs, size 20 x 30

    Large tyres, size 20 x 30 (65 mm)

    Link treads

How long does it take to build a model?
That depents. A lowloader truck with a load costs more time than a tipper truck. On a yearly base I build three to four models.

Where do you keep those models, or do you demolished them?
By the time I break them off. LEGO is rather expensive and I haven't got enough space to store them. And, b.t.w., nowadays it's hard to find the necessary pieces. I keep a model for about one until two years when it's done. Then I have to break one of them off to build a new one.

    How do get those stickers?
They're made by myself on the PC. I create my own logo's etc. I buy the letterings in the shop, but that depends on the type of lettering. I don't send any logo. They're just for my own use.

Where do I find building instructions of LEGO sets?
You may find them on several pages of the world wide web:

    PICSL

    The Brickfactory
